Spending a semester abroad was very eye opening for me. My time in America taught me a lot about people outside of Europe and I have a few rantings I'd like to bring about.

Everybody thought I was a Beatle impersonator, that gets old after a while.
Nobody could understand a word I said.
Your men are incredibly homophobic.
Your public water closets are disgusting
When I tried to buy a new pair of trainers, what you call sneakers, nobody knew what I was talking about.
People get really offended by the word "Cunt"
Girls do not like Liverpuddlian accents.
People tend to mock you if you wear suits frequently.
Nobody here has seen Beatle boots in their lives
The tea isn't as good here
You have insane smoking laws.
People giggle when you ask for a pack of fags (cigarettes)

when my grandfather came from England he asked for a packet of fags and the store women just laughed at him!

Plus everyone made fun of him when he said Human because with his accent he says Uman! he couldn't pernounce the H! which I some times do when I go over to hiis house

OMG! I LOVE JELLY BABIES! When my Grandparents came back from England they would bring me some! they would also bring me TCP! I love that stuff!

I'm going to England this summer to visit my family!

Lol, that's an interesting perspective. :) I guess I could agree with some of that stuff... Especially about public restrooms. xP Of course, I always assumed those are pretty nasty anywhere. But some of the stuff seems more like running into people that are ruder than usual.

Then again I live in the Pacific NW, which is pretty different than the northeast. xD Portland is pretty accustomed to the unusual... I don't think suits, smoking and a lot of that stuff would weird people out that much here, to be honest.


...But I still think "water closet" sounds funny. :)
